York County’s Premier Motorsports Facility Celebrates 70 Years Young on Thursday, May 23rd. To celebrate the historic milestone, BAPS Motor Speedway has lined up Legendary Guest Appearances, Hall of Fame Inductions, Military Honors, and Fan Specials!
On May 19th, a special program of 410 and 305 Sprints will be on the card. The event sponsored by CH Recovery and UPMC will feature $1 hot dogs at the concession stands. Donnie Bricker, son of racetrack builder Bud Bricker, will offer Bricker’s French Fries for a special $.70 price to honor the occasion.
Car-owner John Trone and Donnie Bricker will be in attendance to talk about the speedway. The field will also be paced by a car from the 1954 race.
“There aren’t many racetracks that have been around for 70 years,” Gouse said. “It’s an accomplishment, and we wanted to give back to fans by lowering prices on hot dogs. Bricker’s French Fries followed suit and will charge a cheap price for fries.”
In addition to activities, we will also honor BAPS Motor Speedway's 70th Anniversary and would like to pay tribute to photographers and media members. All photographers and media members who are credentialed by the speedway prior to (May 13) will receive a $15 gift certificate to the concession stand for the May 19th 410 Sprint Car and 305 Sprint Car program. The gift cards must be used the same day of the race.
The following week will be Warhorse Camp Hill Hall of Fame Night. The Super Sportsman, 358 Sprints, 602 Crate Sportsman, and Extreme Stocks will be on the card.
Seven new inductees from the Super Sportsman, Late Model, Street Stock, and Extreme Stock divisions will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. They include Russ Smith, Kenny Weaver, Butch Richcreek, Mike Goodwin, Ree Smith, R.W. Lutz, and Jack Frazier.
“We wanted to honor our 70th Anniversary for seven days,” Gouse said. “Having Hall of Fame Night close out that week is special because we get the opportunity to enshrine legends from these important divisions in the speedway’s Hall of Fame.
“These events further add to what we believe is going to be a successful and exciting season for our fans and the racetrack. We look forward to celebrating the historical 70th anniversary season with more promotions in the future.”
In addition to 70th anniversary specials, BAPS Motor Speedway will honor all Military Members with Free General Admission Entry and Free Haircuts for Current & Retired Military Members along with First Responders provided by the Man Cave Mobile Barber Shop from 4-7PM.
