34 RACEWAY SEASON OPENER CANCELLED

Mother Nature has played a mean April fools on Midwest sprint car fans as the combined rain and snow over the past few days has forced 34 Raceway management and IRA officials, in consultation with MOWA, to officially cancel the April 5-6 Morning Sun Farm Implement 410 Clash.

As of 6:30 PM on Wednesday it was still putting down a wintery mix on the banked 3/8 with below normal temperatures forecasted thru Friday and near the freezing mark each night thru Saturday. "We love racing at 34 and know we would have had a stellar field there again this year, but no sense putting off the inevitable any longer", stated IRA President Steve Sinclair. "I know how hard Brad & Jessi worked trying to get ready for this weekend, but there just isn't enough drying time to make it happen, the entire area is just saturated. Really wanted to kick off this season the same way we did at 34 last year, but there's nothing we can do. It's snowing up here at my place too, crazy!'

The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series has to wait til April 19-20 to open now as they have a Wisconsin combo at Mississippi Thunder And Beaver Dam Raceway. 34 Raceway will try again next Saturday night, April 13th with the Sprint Invaders, while MOWA opens April 27th in Lincoln IL.
