Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 22, 2014) – Josh Baughman felt as good as he ever has at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday.

“We were way better this time than in the past two or three years,” he said.

After qualifying 23rd quickest – which lined him up on the pole of a heat race – and changing an engine, Baughman guided his Jason Johnson Racing sprint car to his first career heat race win at the famed half-mile oval.

“We made some good laps,” he said.

That started Baughman on the inside of the 10th row for his first main event of the season at Knoxville Raceway.

“We missed the setup a little bit,” he said. “I would have liked to finish closer to the front. Our record the second time back at a track is always better than the first time. I’m happy to go back this weekend.”

Baughman, who finished 20th, will return to the track this Saturday for one final tune-up prior to the 360 Knoxville Nationals July 31-Aug. 2.

“It’s still a test and tune for us,” he said. “Wayne (Priddy) is helping me a lot. He’s been there a lot of times and knows his way around there. Jason (Johnson) always helps out. He’s won a feature there this year. The main thing we talk about is staying calm and hitting our marks. The biggest thing we’re concentrating on the first two weeks (before the Knoxville Nationals) is laying down a good lap.”
