Inside Line Promotions – AMARILLO, Texas (July 29, 2014) – Jordan Weaver overcame a high draw each night during the Route 66 Shootout last weekend.

“Both nights we had a really high draw,” she said. “On Friday we drew the 95 out of 100 and on Saturday 98 out of 100. When you do that it makes your whole weekend stressful. You know you have to pass a lot of cars and sometimes you can’t get as many passed as you need in an eight-lap heat race.”

Weaver made the best of the high draw during the 305ci doubleheader at Route 66 Motor Speedway.

After advancing from seventh to fifth place in a heat race on Friday, Weaver maneuvered from sixth to second place in a B Main to earn a transfer into the main event.

“In the B Main we were really good,” she said. “We were working the high side in turns one and two. The car was working great.”

Unfortunately, Weaver had to restart from the back following an incident on the opening lap of the main event.

“In the A Main we smacked the wall on the first lap and bent the right rear wheel really bad,” she said. “I restarted last and we came back up to 10th. I was happy with the car. I just put myself behind.”

Weaver rallied from the early miscue to score her fourth top 10 of the season.

The weekend concluded on Saturday when Weaver charged from eighth to fourth place in a heat race.

“I wanted to get a little further in the heat, but we ended up coming home fourth,” she said. “I wasn’t too happy, but it could have been worse.”

That lined her up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.

“The car was great all weekend and I kept making mistakes and getting us behind,” she said. “Saturday we finally put everything together in the A Main and got it to the front. A lot of people were running the top in turns three and four and I was on the bottom. There was still moisture down there. I could get a really good bite getting off the corner.”

Weaver charged from 11th to a third-place finish, which marked her first podium result of the season.

“We were real close to second,” she said. “I was right there with him. I just ran out of laps. I think we had the car fast enough to win, but I started too far back.”

Weaver will take the next couple of weeks off before tackling The Freedom Tour with the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars Aug. 13 at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla.; Aug. 14 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; Aug. 15 at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.; and Aug. 16 at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan.
