Tankersley Shooting to Make Second Straight Short Track Nationals Feature

Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 21, 2014) – Channin Tankersley is aiming to top his performance last year at the Short Track Nationals.

Tankersley will drive for Bruce Griffith this Wednesday through Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s 27th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals Presented by Hoosier Tires.

“We’ve had a lot of momentum on our side the last half of the year,” Tankersley said. “We feel pretty confident with our chances. We seem to do pretty well on the smaller tracks. I have a pretty positive attitude going into this weekend.”

Tankersley advanced into his first career feature during the $15,000-to-win, $2,500-to-start event last season. He finished 16th in the main event.

“Everything has to go right to reach the main event at the Short Track Nationals,” he said. “It’s one of the toughest features of the year to make so it meant a lot last year to accomplish that.”

Tankersley is coming off a tough outing last weekend at Devil’s Bowl Speedway during the 41st annual Winter Nationals.

“We were pretty decent in speed,” he said. “We just had a lot of mechanical issues for some reason.”

Tankersley maneuvered from eighth to sixth place during his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race on Friday, which relegated him to a B Main. However, the team ran out of time to fix the issues and Tankersley was unable to start the consolation race.

He then powered from seventh to fourth place in heat race action on Saturday, but was slowed during the main event because of a mechanical issue.

“The car was pretty quick at the beginning of the night,” he said. “When we went to start for the A Main it wouldn’t run well. I pulled in about five laps into the feature to save the equipment.”

He was credited with a 23rd-place result.
