After A Solid 2014 Season, Covington And Team Already At Work Preparing For 2015

Covington Motorsports- GLENPOOL, OK. (November 24, 2014) Matt Covington earned three feature victories during the 2014 season, including two wins with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“I’d say the key moments of this year were the victories,” stated Covington. “We started off decent and made some points early with the top-fives at Dallas in the beginning of the year. Basically after that, through most of the summer, we were hit and miss and had some struggles mixed with a few strong runs.”

The season started to turn back around for Covington by picking up a local win at Gillette Thunder Speedway in Wyoming. After some strong finishes during the next few months stretch, Covington added his first National Tour score of the season at the historic Jackson Nationals at Jackson Speedway.

Covington picked up his last victory of the season with the ASCS National Tour when he dominated at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. After many regional wins at Devil’s Bowl, Matt was finally able to return to Victory Lane at the famed half-mile track on Oct. 18 during the 41st annual Winter Nationals.

“The Jackson Nationals win, and especially the win at Devil’s Bowl, was very special to me,” stated Matt. “To be honest, I felt like we could of won a few more races, but we just didn’t get it done and capitalize on those opportunities. Three wins is not a satisfactory goal for our team and we really wanted to win more. But any wins are better than none at all if you look at it from the positive side. My main focus now is just concentrating on our weakness and building our team strengths so we can battle for more wins and podium finishes in 2015. I would also like to stop and say a sincere “Thank you” to all of our sponsors and partners this year. We couldn’t go up and down the road and do this without them. And I’m very hopeful and dedicated to being able to add some wins and strong finishes in 2015 to continue to show my appreciation. Also like to wish all my friends, family, and sponsors a Happy Thanksgiving and Holidays.”

Covington ended the season eighth in the ASCS National Tour Championship standings and with season stats of 3 wins, 14 top fives, and 24 top tens.

With the offseason underway, Covington and the team have already started the process of reloading and rebuilding for 2015.

Matt and his Covington Motorsports team would like to thank all partners who made 2014 possible and look forward to the continued relationship in 2015: T&L Foundry, Triple X Chassis, A-Rock Materials, Winters, Brodix, C.G. Martin Company, Factor 1 Racing, All-Star Performance, Outlaw Wings, Pro Shocks, DMI Components, Keizer Wheels, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, GME Steering, Wesmar Racing Engines, Bob Hurley RV, Eaton Industrial, Maxwell Oil, and Schoenfeld Headers for their support in 2014.
