Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown Garners National Headlines

Inside Line Promotions – SOMERTON, Ariz. (Jan. 5, 2015) – The inaugural Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown has captured national headlines.

NASCAR star Kyle Larson thrilled the crowd on Saturday night to win Round 2 of the five-race event at Cocopah Speedway, which will host 410ci sprint car events on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

Following Tennessee resident Paul McMahan’s dominating performance on Friday during the opening round, California’s Larson and sprint car veterans Stevie Smith of Oklahoma and Danny Lasoski of Missouri traded the lead at least a half dozen times in the final half of the 30-lap feature on Saturday.

Mired in thick traffic, Larson slid Smith for the lead in turns three and four in the closing laps. Smith pulled side by side with Larson in the same turns on the final lap, but the NASCAR sensation powered around him on the cushion to score the $12,000 top prize.

Fellow NASCAR standouts Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart were on hand. Kahne finished 11th after placing 10th during the opening round and Stewart was in attendance helping sprint car legend Steve Kinser, who drives for Tony Stewart Racing.

Videos from the track have gone viral and several national media outlets have picked up the story. Here are a couple of links:
