Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (Jan. 11, 2015) – Tony Bruce Jr. is more than excited to make his first start at the famed Chili Bowl in eight years.
With the help of Submersible Pumps Inc. and Wheeler Metals, Bruce Jr. put together a midget to compete in the premier event this Tuesday through Saturday inside the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla.
His preliminary night during the 29th edition of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals is set for Tuesday, marking his first time competing at the event since 2007.
“I can’t thank Submersible Pumps Inc. and Wheeler Metals enough for this opportunity,” he said. “After the last time I raced the Chili Bowl I didn’t want to return unless I knew I had the right pieces in place. We have that this year so I’m excited to see it in action.”
The event has drawn a record of more than 325 entries, which doesn’t leave room for error.
“There’s a lot of luck involved in the Chili Bowl and hopefully we are on the good side of that,” he said. “It’s important to be peaking every time you hit the track to take advantage of any opportunity.”
The goal is to have a strong run during preliminary competition to be set up well for Saturday’s finale.
“Points are accounted for every time you hit the track other than hot laps,” Bruce Jr. said. “We need to be on our game from the first green flag and then we’ll see where everything ends up. I think this will be a fun event, especially if we do well.”
