Johnson Kicking Off 2015 Sprint Car Season By Making World of Outlaws Debut

Inside Line Promotions – PENNGROVE, Calif. (March 2, 2015) – Chase Johnson is aiming to reach new heights in 2015, which begins in a week and a half when Johnson will make his World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series debut.

Johnson is set to start his sprint car season March 13-14 at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., where he will be driving for Shawn and Cindy Thomas during an event co-sanctioned by the World of Outlaws and the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series.

“Last year was supposed to be my World of Outlaws debut, but I got hurt at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico the night before,” he said. “I only have a handful of laps in only three races in Tulare and none of them in a 410. I will be jumping in on an elbows-up track with a bunch of elbows-up drivers to start the season.”

The races at Thunderbowl Raceway will also kick off Johnson’s first season as a full-time 410 driver.

“We don’t have too many expectations for this race or for the season,” he said. “The King of the West Rookie of the Year Award is our goal. We think it’s very possible even with the great amount of new cars and drivers competing this year. I think our expectation for this race and throughout the year is to make solid laps, bring the car home in one piece and use the first season in a 410 as a learning year.”

Johnson will drive the Thomas No. 68 during all of the King of the West events as well as all but one weekend of World of Outlaws competition in California. Additionally, Johnson will compete in a handful of 410 nonwing sprint car races for the Thomas family.

“I can’t thank Shawn and Cindy Thomas enough for this opportunity,” he said. “I’m extremely excited to get this season rolling and see what we can accomplish together.”

Johnson will fill in his schedule with approximately a dozen 360 races in his family sprint car, including the Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway, the Fall Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway and select Civil War Sprint Car Series events.

“I’ve been able to experience a lot of different types of racing the past couple of years and have been the benefactor of some unique opportunities,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the 2015 season, which presents the next opportunity to do something that I love.”
