Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (May 25, 2015) – Jason Sides finished just outside of the top 10 during a pair of World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series events last week.

Sides kicked off the action on Tuesday at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, N.J., where he qualified 15th quickest to narrowly miss locking into the heat race inversion during the Jersey Outlaw Classic. Sides then placed sixth in a heat to advance into the main event, which he started on the inside of the eighth row.

“It seemed like it was fairly racy, but guys were a lot better than me,” he said. “I fell back to about 18th and worked my way to 12th. We were getting better as the race went on. I think we were too snug and maybe needed a little more gear. It never was free enough until the last five or six laps.”

Sides finished with a 12th-place result.

The team ventured to The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Friday for the Circle K/NOS Energy Drink Outlaw Showdown, which was held on one of the slickest tracks Sides has competed on this season.

“I think that track probably would have been a little better if it had rubbered up,” he said.

Sides qualified 10th quickest, which lined him up on the pole of a heat race.

“The starts are so important that you have to get the jump,” he said. “You’ve got to get the start and get up in front of (the other driver starting on the front row) and take their line before they can get to the corner.”

Sides did just that and held on to record the heat race win. That locked him into the dash, where he finished where he started – seventh – to start the main event on the inside of the fourth row.

“To be honest we weren’t any good in the feature,” he said. “It was kind of surviving and hanging on to it.”

Sides battled for a top 10 throughout the main event before he ended with an 11th-place finish.

Monday’s World of Outlaws event at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., was rained out.

Sides will return to action this Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the Kistler Engines Classic and Saturday at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., for the NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan with the World of Outlaws.
