Reutzel Hits it Big with High Roller Win

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (August 28, 2015) – Aaron Reutzel has been oh so close to a big money win in the winged 360-ci ranks on a number of occasions.

The Clute, TX, driver finally broke through that barrier by racing to victory lane in Sunday night’s High Roller Classic atop Sedalia’s ½-mile Missouri State Fair Speedway aboard the Shark-powered BC Fundz/Basic One Services No. 87 Triple X Sprint Car. Reutzel’s 11th overall win of the year was worth $13,000.

“It was really nice to finally win a big race in the 360s,” a relieved Reutzel said after his first racing action atop the storied Sedalia oval.

Reutzel had definitely been knocking on that door in the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions machine with runner-up finishes in last October’s Short Track Nationals, February’s Ronald Laney Memorial and July’s Dirt Cup along with a third-place finish at Knoxville’s recent 360 Nationals.

It all finally came together for the current Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour points leader and the Dissolvealloy Frac Ball Revolution team on Sunday night.

“The plan all came together,” Reutzel said of the race winning strategy that resulted in a pass of Brian Brown for the lead that was worth $11,000; the difference between winning and finishing second.

After conserving tires over the initial portion of the race, the battle was on after a lap eight caution.

“We were pretty much the same speed,” Reutzel explained. “Running second, I had a little more opportunity to search around. When we got to traffic, he tried the top but didn’t really get there. I had been up there, I beat him to it and got around him.”

Out front, Reutzel cruised on to his sixth ASCS National Tour win of the year in the Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt machine as he extended his lead in the $60,000 championship points chase 93 points.

With a pair of idle weekends on the National slate, Reutzel and the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/Wright Way Logistics team will have an off weekend before taking in a pair of ASCS Gulf South nights at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, on September 4-5.

2015 Quick Stats: 55 races, 11 wins, 28 top-fives, 38 top-tens.
