HISTORIC WEEKEND LIES AHEAD WITH BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA OUTLAW SPRINTS!

50TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON CONTINUES AS SERIES HEADS TO MANITOWOC AND WILMOT THIS WEEKEND!

May 5, 2016; Appleton, WI – The first double-header weekend of the 2016 season for the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series will showcase historic events at both Manitowoc Speedway and Wilmot Raceway.

The 50th Anniversary season for the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints resumes on Friday night with the running of the first and only Manitowoc Mayhem event at Manitowoc Speedway, a show that is presented by Six Four Promotions.

Last season was the first stop at the third-mile semi-banked track after an absence of 13 years for the IRA sprint cars and it resulted in a standing room only crowd. On that evening Mike Reinke outran Ben Schmidt and Scotty Thiel to take the victory. This year Reinke is celebrating his silver anniversary season behind the wheel and will be seeking out a return trip to Manitowoc’s victory lane.

All three drivers will be among the 30 plus race teams checking in for competition this Friday evening May 6th. In addition the show will see the return to action of one of the IRA’s hardest charging racers, Mike Kertscher. Kertscher had taken the past couple of years off but will see action in several events this season with a new team. The Manitowoc Mayhem event will showcase his return to action.

What makes this Friday night’s show an historic event is the contest will mark the first and only Manitowoc Mayhem event ever held. After the conclusion of the 2016 racing season the racetrack will be demolished to make way for a food store. Fans have this one opportunity to witness this show. It’s an opportunity not to be missed.

In addition to a field of nearly 30 Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint cars expected in attendance for this Friday Nights show, a pair of other divisions will be taking to the track. IMCA type Sport Modifieds and Grand Nationals will present a full program including feature contests each paying $500 to win.

Pits will open at 3:00pm with grandstand gates opening at 5:00pm. A driver autograph session will be held from 5:00pm to 5:30pm giving fans a chance to meet the drivers and see the cars up close and personal. Racing action begins at 7:00pm!

Adult tickets are just $20, with student pricing for children ages 6-14 admitted for just $10. Kids ages 5 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

To reach the track from Interstate 43 take Manitowoc Exit 149 travel east on highway 151. Turn North on Rapids Rd., there are several entrances to the grounds at that point.

Then on Saturday it’s off to the birthplace of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints, Wilmot Raceway. The show on May 7th will also mark the season opening show for the third-mile clay oval located in the far southeastern part of Wisconsin.

An historic facility with a long history, Wilmot Raceway’s old Modified division was the forerunner to today’s sprint cars seen on the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car tour.

In addition to the traveling IRA competitors, the Wisconsin Wingless Sprints, Wisconsin-Illinois Mini-Sprints and the IMCA type modifieds are on the May 7 program.

Last year former track champion Jeremy Schultz, Blake Nimee, Dale Blaney, Todd Hephner, and Jordan Goldesberry were able to score victories in the five IRA shows held at the track. Schultz, Nimee and Goldesberry are expected to participate in the event held this Saturday night.

Grandstand admission on May 7th is $20.00 for adults ages 12 and over, $5.00 for ages 7-11; and children ages 6 and under admitted free. Parking is free.
The Kenosha County Fairgrounds, where the track resides, is located just north of the intersection of county roads C and W in Wilmot, WI. Wilmot, Wisconsin is located just 8 miles west of I-94 taking county highway C.
