About Billy

Billy Anderson of Dayton, MN lost a long battle with complications from a sprint car accident at the Knoxville Raceway in June of 1998 as he passed away due to Meningitis on Friday evening October 19th. Billy was surrounded by his ever faithful, loving wife Jenny, and his family and friends at the time.

Billy's racing career began in street stocks in 1994 at the nearby Princeton Speedway and he progressed quickly to the modified class. Then, in 1996, Billy made his first start in a sprint car at the Cedar Lake Speedway. Billy continued to race around the region in 1997 with car owner Mike Botzek and the two were quite successful in the #B1st sprint car. In 1998, Billy got the opportunity of a lifetime to race every weekend at the infamous Knoxville Raceway every Saturday night with car owner Bill Kain.

Since Billy's accident, Jenny has been caring for him at home as he continued to struggle with health complications from the incident and the paralysis. Billy made it out to several racing events, and the couple converted their home into a virtual racing museum filled with memorabilia from Billy's career and famous drivers throughout the racing world. Billy never lost his love for life or racing and continued to fight until the end. Family and friends have hosted several fundraisers to help Jenny with the ever-present medical bills and the continued support of the racing community has been greatly appreciated.
