Kaeding Second in Winter Challenge Finale

Kaeding Closes Out Winter Challenge With Second Place Run

PETERSEN MEDIA- After opening the Winter Challenge in Canyon, AZ with two podiums finishes, Bud Kaeding closed out the event with a second place finish on the final day of competition.

The second stint of the challenge got under way on Thursday evening, and the San Jose, CA native had a solid top five running going with four laps to go.

As he ran in the fourth position, Kaeding and another car made contact. After gathering himself back up, Kaeding was back in the 11th position, and would ultimately finish in the spot.

The Friday portion of the event, saw Kaeding line his BZE/Alviso Rock/Kaeding Performance machine up in the 11th spot.

After slow start to the event, Kaeding slowly began working his way through the field during the final portion of the race.

Backing it in through the high side, Kaeding was able to get up to the sixth spot as he crossed the finish line.

Saturday marked the closing of the six race challenge, and Kaeding put himself in position to grab his first win of 2012.

An impressive heat race showcased Bud charging his Factory Kahne Shocks/SCI/Maxim from the seventh spot to a second position, that lined him up on the front row of the feature.

Kaeding shared the row with red hot, Tracy Hines, and at the drop of the green flag, Hines motored away into the lead with Kaeding hot on his trail.

While Hines set the pace, Kaeding pressured him all race long, but was never able to get a strong enough run to get passed him.

Hines went on to win the race, and Kaeding held the second spot to close the Winter Challenge just how he started it.

“It was defiantely a fun event to get down here and run,” explained Kaeding. “We learned some things down here that we can use going forward, and I know we have a strong enough car to reel off some wins this year. My guys worked their tails off, and I can’t thank them enough, and look forward to getting the season rolling.”

Bud Kaeding would like to thank Kaeding Performance, Sprint Car Innovations, Alviso Rock, BZE, Factory Kahne Shocks, Racing Optics, K&N Filters, Yak Graphics, ButerBuilt, and Brown and Miller for their continued support.

ON TAP: Kaeding will now look to join up with the USAC National Sprint Car series. The season opener will be a three-day event this Thursday-Saturday at the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL.
