Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native Ryan Timms ventured to Tulsa Expo Raceway (Tulsa, Okla.) on Wednesday afternoon as the Tulsa Shootout got underway with more than 1,200 entries on the grounds for the 36th annual event.
With Timms competing in three ranks on Wednesday, the pilot of the CITGard Engine Oil No. 5T entry raced forward five spots in his Outlaw Non Winged Micro heat to finish second. He followed up a sixth-to-fourth run in his Outlaw Winged Micro heat with an improvement of five spots to finish fourth in his Winged Micro heat.
Following a win in his Non Winged Micro heat on Thursday, Ryan returned on Friday to run a qualifier in all four ranks.
With his Outlaw Non Winged Micro set up to go out first, Timms recorded a fourth-place finish before placing third in his Non Winged Micro. For his final two events of the evening, Ryan passed four cars in the Outlaw Winged Micro qualifier but was unable to gain any ground in his Winged Micro to finish sixth.
Needing a second-place finish or better in his B-Main on Saturday to earn a spot into a LCQ, Timms missed a transfer spot by one position in both his Outlaw Non Wing Micro and Outlaw Winged Micro. He faded back to finish 13th in his Winged Micro while crossing the line in fourth in his Non Winged Micro.
