2022 POWRi Quarter-Midget Nationals Cactus Cup Format

Belleville, IL. (1/19/22) Anticipation grows as the POWRi Quarter Midget Cactus Cup Nationals at Phoenix Raceway on February 16-19 draws near. Officials continue to work diligently behind the scenes to make this the premier event of the 2022 season finalizing the guidelines and procedures for race-week events.
Sign-In: All cars/entrees must pass safety inspection & complete the sign-in process in order to participate. Sign-In closes at 9:00 AM on Thursday, February 17.

Race Format:
Practice – 3 Minutes in duration, maximum of 7 cars on the track.
Heat Race Line-ups will be a random computer-generated pill draw.
All Races will have a time limit to be determined on race day. If AA & Half drivers do NOT complete heat races before the time limit, the cars will not refuel, the race will conclude with the 80-lap fuel limit. The race finish will be determined on the next yellow/red flag that is thrown after the time limit expires. The judging tower will score the finish based on the last line-up after the yellow/red flag.

Heats & Mains Laps:
All races will be staged and run out of the hot chute. (NO warm-up laps)
Heat Races – 20 Laps.
Lower Mains – 25 Laps.
Novice A-Mains – 25 Laps.
Jr. A-Mains – 30 Laps.
Sr. A-Mains – 40 Laps.
Classes with on entry will run in a green, white, & checkered flag race.

All engines will be sealed immediately after heat races.
Handlers are responsible for the engine sealing by track officials.
The top-3 finishers in each class will be impounded after each main event.
All cars signed in are subject to tech & safety inspections.

All Gasoline must be purchased from Quick Trip located at 150 North Avondale Blvd, Avondale, Arizona 85323.
All Gasoline must be 89 Mid-Grade.

Hoosier Racing Tires are MANDATORY on all four wheels.

Tuesday, February 15th – Track Setup | Banners | Signage | TV Setup.

Wednesday, February 16th – Parking/Safety Sign-In/Hoosier Tire Distribution | “Cactus Cup Kick-Off Dinner” in the evening offering competitors and families a FREE catered meal before the weeklong racing event.

Thursday, February 17th – Practice 8:00 AM-12:00 PM | Heat Races: Novice/Jr Heat – 12:00 PM-5:00 PM.

Friday, February 18th – Remaining Heat Races: 8:00 AM-1:00 PM | Following the conclusion of the final heat race all competitors will make a PRI victory lap around the entire NASCAR Phoenix International Raceway. Friday, February 18th – Lower Mains: 1:30 PM-5:00 PM.

Saturday, February 19th – A-Mains: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
