HALL WIRES FIELD AT SILVER CUP
CHICO, CA 3/10/12 – SILVER DOLLAR SPEEDWAY

Topping a 17 car lineup and leading virtually wire to wire, Rio Linda’s Scott Hall made his first main event win at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA a memorable one as he ran away and hid from the field and took the wingless sprint car portion of the season opening Silver Cup at the famed quarter mile oval. Hall, driving the VanLare family owned #56v blasted to the lead past front row starters David Sprigg and Cody Smith and never looked back, pocketing the $1,000 first place check along the way.

A total of seventeen cars entered the wingless sprint car field including defending track champion Terry Schank, Jr. in Roger Gleason’s potent #1, multiple time Marysville track champion in his own #7 and two time USAC Champion Geoff Ensign in Ted Finkenbinder’s #3f. Ensign, the previous night’s second place finisher, chose to sit night two out and the Finkenbinder machine was never a factor with his replacement driver. In the meantime, Hall, whose crew was fighting carburetion issues on it’s debut night in the brand new #56v at Marysville Raceway Park, had a noticeable smirk on their collective faces, the carburetion issues behind them.

It showed early in the night as Hall blasted away from his heat race field and won the 8 lapper going away, earning a second row starting position after an inversion draw, which led to the main event.

As the green flag fell, it was obvious the bottom was the place to be as the top had went slick. Hall masterfully guided the 56v to the point on lap 1, then put the field to sleep and flashed under the checkers 15 laps later, notching his first main event win at Silver Dollar Speedway.

In the winner’s circle afterwards, Hall thanked car owners Jim and Annette VanLare for the car to drive and said with a smile, “This is a pretty fast piece.” The attention then went to the Pit Boss, Tommy Hall, Scott Hall’s brother and crew chief. “We grew up watching the races here and it’s been a longtime dream of ours to get a win here. It finally happened. For those who don’t know, this car is for sale. I don’t know how much more you need to see to see that it’s a great deal, whatever the price.”

Hall’s next race is shaping up to be April 7th at Petaluma Speedway, a track where he’s racing for points for the first time.
