DAVE CALDERWOOD, AGE 69

Dave Calderwood, a long-time car owner and supporter of cars in all three National series, passed away at home in Bakersfield, California on Saturday, April 28th after an extended illness.

Calderwood's cars were iconic in winning races on both the Midget & Silver Crown circuits in the 1990s. His familiar look on a race car returned in 2010 when Tracy Hines, who had driven for Calderwood in the past, started campaigning the #4 with Calderwood and his company, MP Environmental Services. Hines has now tallied four wins for the team in this span, including on April 21st at the famed Eldora Speedway.

Calderwood was known as one of the best and most likeable car owners in USAC while employing some of the most famous names in the sport, including Kenny Irwin, Jr., Jimmy Sills, Ryan Newman, and Jeff Gordon, along with Hines.
