Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (May 23, 2022) – Derek Hagar is aiming for his fourth USCS Series Speedweek championship as the spectacle starts this weekend.
Hagar, who captured the crown in 2014, 2016 and 2019, hopes to continue his hot start to the season during a trio of races this weekend. It begins on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark., hosts an event on Sunday and Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn., is the site of Round 3 on Monday.
“We’re going to do as much of it as we can,” he said. “Mother Nature isn’t playing nice with us this year. Hopefully it stays dry the next couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to getting back to Riverside, Old No. 1 and Lexington. Let’s see if we can start off Speedweek with three strong nights of racing.”
Hagar has been victorious at all three tracks that are on the schedule this weekend.
One of his five feature wins this season occurred at Riverside International Speedway, where he has picked up at least one triumph during each of the last three years.
Hagar scored his first career victory at Old No. 1 Speedway last season.
A seventh-place result at Lexington 104 Speedway last year snapped Hagar’s three-race winning streak at the track dating back to 2018.
“Speedweek can be grueling so it’s important to stay out of trouble on the track and find consistency,” he said. “We’ve began this year on a successful note so the goal is to be a contender each night and hopefully knock off a couple of wins this weekend.”
