Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 23, 2022) – Garet Williamson recorded his third straight top-10 result at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.

The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver qualified fifth quickest for the second straight time at the half-mile oval.

“I was excited to get back there because we’ve been fast,” he said. “We were quick from the get-go. We went fifth quick in qualifying and tried to build on that. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the start we needed in the heat race so we finished sixth. We still made the feature redraw, but didn’t get the pill draw to go our way.”

Williamson lined up on the outside of the fourth row for the Midwest Power Series A Main.

“It was a heavy track around the bottom,” he said. “I got to Wayne (Johnson) and was getting ready to try to get by him when we had a yellow. On the restart I went to the top and lost two positions. We reeled them back in and then had a red. We did the same thing on that restart and got two spots back and then moved down for the rest of the race.”

Williamson’s sixth-place outing was his 14th top 10 of the season.

After the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event rained out midway through the week, Williamson decided to kick off the weekend on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for a Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Midwest Power Series race. It marked his first time at the track.

He qualified 10th quickest in his group and advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race, but the night ended on the opening lap of the feature when Williamson was caught up in a crash.

“We adapted all right,” he said. “We struggled early, but I think we got better as the night went on. I didn’t see the crash coming until he started flipping and I was a victim at that point. He landed right on us and it got the front end and top wing so that was it for us.”

Williamson returns to ASCS National Tour competition this weekend with races on Friday and Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., and Sunday at Thunderbird Raceway in Muskogee, Okla., where he will make his debut.
