SWANSON WILL LEAD SILVER CROWN TO SPRINGFIELD; SANTOS WINS “J.D. BYRIDER 100”

Kody Swanson finished second in Thursday night’s “J.D. Byrider 100” at Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Ind. and leads the USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Series to its next event, the “Tony Bettenhausen 100” at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield August 18. He has a 20-point lead over Bobby East, who took third in the Indianapolis race.

Bobby Santos of Franklin, Mass. led all 100 laps of Thursday night’s race, part of a USAC “Rich Vogler Classic” doubleheader honoring the late USAC driver who won more USAC features than any driver in history.

Santos and his Rotondo Weirich/Curb Records Beast/Wallace Toyota were chased to the checkered flag by Swanson, East, Kyle Larson and Tanner Swanson.

Seven drivers emerged from the Indianapolis race separated by 74 points in the latest series standings. Thursday’s race was the 300th presented by USAC at the Indianapolis oval.
