PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking of the stars and cars of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series, Andy Gregg struggled in front of his hometown crowd as he failed to make the feature event.
Competing under the ASCS Sanctioning body, a pill draw lined up heat races, and Gregg pulled high and found his 7 Industries/GUTS/Ervin Sales backed machine in the third row of his heat race.
Gregg wasn’t able to move forward in his heat, which hurt him as the ASCS Series awards passing points, and the Placerville, CA driver fought a tight racecar as he scored a fifth place finish and was forced into one of the twin B-mains.
Lining up in the second row of the B, Gregg would need to secure a top three finish in order to continue on into the feature event.
As the B went green, Gregg slipped back into the fifth spot aboard his Autism Awareness/Pro Shocks/King Racing Products entry as he then desperately tried to claw his way back forward.
Gregg would wind up in the fifth spot as the B ended thus ending his night.
“We struggled tonight,” said Gregg. “We were a little tight, and simply didn’t bring out our A game against the National guys.”
