Team to Travel 2,200 Miles to Compete in Oct. 11-13 LoneStar Sprint Nationals

WHITECOURT ALBERTA, CANADA (9/19/12) by DarinShort.com. Deep in the heart of Alberta Canada lays the town of Whitecourt, which has branded itself as the Snowmobile capital of Alberta.

It is also home of one of the most potent sprint car teams in Canada, the #39c owned by Richard and Lana Saumure.

And in less than three weeks, the team will leave the picturesque confines of Whitecourt and begin the 2,200 mile trek to LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore Texas with the goal of conquering the 3/8 mile high-banks during the $120,000 LoneStar Sprint Car Nationals, to be held October 11-13th.

Saumure’s team is no stranger to victory lane; especially with the driver they’ve chosen to pilot the car, which is the 2012 Castrol Raceway Gold Cup Champion and 2012 Skagit Speedway Dirt Cup qualifier winner Travis Rilat, of Forney Texas. Travis picked up those two victories in the Saumure #39c. He also won in the same car this summer at Coos Bay Speedway in Oregon on July 17th.

The team is sponsored in part by Xtreme Oilfield Services, Carlan Services, Scott Stacy, Tri Jet, Matt’s Oilfield Services and Shark Racing Engines.

Travis had initially planned to race his own #29 ShopTheBoss.com car at the event, but after a successful summer in the #39c, Richard and Lana decided to bring their car to LoneStar to race.

We wish the Saumure team safe travels and best of luck at this year’s event.
