King of the Beach Crown On The Line Saturday Night At Ventura

(Oxnard, CA., Cliff Morgan, 9-28-12) Ventura Raceway returns to exciting racing action Saturday night September 29, at its Ventura County Fairgrounds facility. On that night we will feature the final 2012 Battle at the Beach for VRA Midgets, VRA Senior Sprints, IMCA Modifieds and VRA Sport Compacts. These racers will all be going all out to try to improve their season point standings as our season winds down.

VRA Midgets are returning to continue their season of hard fought, close racing. Saturday night's race is the fourth and final race in the Battle at the Beach series within a series. Ronnie Gardner, who has won each of the three previous 2012 Battle at the Beach races, will be going for his fourth Battle at the Beach win and the title King of the Beach 2012. He holds a 95 point lead over Cody Swanson in the four race series. Other returning drivers will be racing to see who will come out on top of the points race in the VRA Midget Series standings. We hope to see most of our top drivers back tonight to compete for the season championship that was won by Cory Kruseman in 2011. The class will compete in a series of 8 lap heats, semi mains as needed and a 30 lap feature. Wins so far in 2012 have gone to Greg Edenholm, Cory Kruseman and Danny Ebberts, Ronnie Gardner and last race winner Cody Swanson. Cody Swanson currently leads the regular VRA Midget point race by 65 points over Randi Pankratz and 125 points over Randi Pankratz.

VRA Senior Sprints are back to continue their battle to see who will be the 2012 champion. Current point leader, Clif warren, leads Victor Davis by 30 points as we wind down the 2012 season. Warren took the win at their last race on September over Wally Pankratz and Bruce Douglas. These over 45 year old drivers always put on a great night of racing in their 360 sprint cars.

IMCA Modifieds return to action with point leader Jack Parker leading them into competition. He will be going for the Ventura Raceway IMCA Championship title as we end our 2012 IMCA season Saturday night. So far Parker leads Brad Prows, Mark Davis and Wayne Heurung in the season point race after 11 races. Parker only needs to start the main event to clinch his third IMCA track Championship even if his closest rival Brad Prows should win the feature.

VRA Sport Compacts are back to resume their season. Point leader Zack Peterson leads the field into competition this week. Last race saw Michaela Stanton take her first ever VRA win over a strong field of four cylinder racers. She will be back to go for two on a row. Zack Peterson continues to lead in the season point race over Jess Carlucci by 15 points.

For the musical entertainment, Dr. Surf will be playing their surf hits throughout the night. After Saturday night, you’ll want to join us at Zoey’s Café for Ventura Raceway Day on Sunday from 12-3. It’ll be your chance to meet and greet with Ventura Raceway drivers including Cody Swanson, Bruce Douglass, and more. Pit gates will open at 12 noon with front gates opening at 3:00.
