Waelti Earns Plymouth Dirt Track Win with Late Pass

Plymouth, WI (June 17, 2023) - Brandon Waelti wrapped up the weekend with a win at the Plymouth Dirt Track Saturday night with the Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets. After starting ninth, Waelti made his way to the front and captured the win in night number two of a doubleheader weekend.

20 cars were on hand for the second night of Northwoods racing for the AFS Badger Midgets. The winner of the prior night's feature, Adam Taylor, headlined a star filled field. Other drivers including Robby Wirth, Waelti, and Eric Blumer all found themselves in the pits as well.

FiveOne Motorsports Fast Time Award went to Todd Kluever sweeping the weekend of quicktimes. Behind him included Waelti, Taylor, Mike Stroik, and Daltyn England in the top five.

Auto Meter Heat 1 was won by Waelti with Blumer and Kyle Koch behind. Simpson Race Products & VMS Rod Ends Heat 2 saw Taylor win over Parker Jones and Matt Rechek.

The 25 lap A-Main began with Eric Blumer on the pole and Matt Rechek alongside. Blumer took the early lead as Rechek and Taylor followed closely behind. Taylor powered by on the highline on lap four and took the lead from Blumer in convincing fashion. Kluever and Waelti went to work making their way through the field and up into the top three. Waelti went to work tracking down Taylor as Blumer, Kluever, and Jones went to war with each other for the final podium spot. The only yellow of the race came out on lap 21 as the 41 of Jones came to a halt in turn four. Taylor led the field back to green with Waelti behind as a battle ensued. Waelti made his way past Taylor as the field went back green and was able to seal the deal as Taylor got too high trying to get back past. Waelti picked up his third feature win of the season as Taylor and Kluever rounded out the podium. A good result for the driver who was upside down 24 hours prior, as Cody Weisensel brought it home fourth and a career best fifth for the rookie Blumer.

The Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets wrap up their June at Angell Park on June 25th for the Kevins’ Classic race. The USAC Sprint Cars will be in town along with the Badger Midgets for an action packed night of racing.
