LANCASTER, N.Y. (July 22, 2023) – Garrett Zacharias from Candor, NY picked up the win in the New York Super Stock Series event on Saturday night at Lancaster Motorplex. 2022 Monroe Extinguisher Sportsman track champion George Skora III from Eden, NY drove on to score the feature win on Saturday night at Lancaster Motorplex. Sam Fullone and Jeff Brown brought the Late Models to the green flag for their feature event, with Brown showing the way, with Eldon King III quickly moving up to second. Fullone settled into third place, ahead of Bobby Weber and Garrett Zacharias. Brown and King would pull away from the balance of the field and would race amongst themselves for the lead and the win in the 20-lap feature distance. Once the field got going, Sam Fullone was fending off the challenges from Garrett Zacharias, who was making his first ever appearance in a Late Model at Lancaster. No one would catch Jeff Brown as the veteran campaigner would win his first race at Lancaster since 2014.

Garrett Zacharias and Brian Hallett were on the front row for the New York Super Stocks Ferrario Auto Group 40, with Zacharias quickly getting into the lead. Andy Cryan, Josh Hunter, Jacob Gustafson, and Matt Druar all battled for third place early in the feature distance. The caution would fly for the first time as Hunter spun in turn three. Gustafson would take over third on lap six, as Tommy Krawczyk raced in fourth place. Russell Knutsen spun in turn one to bring out the caution on lap nine. Krawczyk and Gustafson battled for third place for several laps, as Gustafson was able to hold Krawczyk off. Gustafson was able to race past Hallett to move into second place on lap 23. Jake Christman entered the top five for the first time, as he was able to get around Andy Cryan to move into fifth on lap 25. Gustafson quickly reeled in race leader Garrett Zacharias as the field encountered lap traffic. Krawczyk came to a stop in turn two to bring out the caution on lap 32 while running inside the top five. On the restart, Zacharias and Gustafson battled for the lead, with Zacharias continuing to show the way. Jake Christman raced in third place, while Matt Druar took over fourth place from Hallett on lap 33. The red flag would come out on lap 39 as Jacob Gustafson nailed the Thermal Foam in turn one after his throttle was stuck on the #09 machine. “Gusty” climbed out of the car under his own power. Garrett Zacharias would lead the final two laps and score the NYSS win at Lancaster over Matt Druar and Andy Cryan.

Jake Vernon and Tom MacLeod brought the Monroe Extinguisher Sportsman to the green flag for their 35-lap feature event, with Vernon leading the field ahead of MacLeod, John Barber, George Skora, and Dave Kozlowski. Tony Carbone would get around Kozlowski to take over fifth place on lap five. Skora would work around Barber to take over second place on lap seven and would go after Vernon for the lead. Skora would take the lead on lap 10 and would pull away from the field. A three-car battle for second lasted for several laps between Vernon, Tony Carbone, and John Barber, with Carbone taking the runner-up position on lap 19. Skora would hit lap traffic on lap 25, as Skora continued to pull away from Carbone and Barber. After a late race caution, Skora would hold off Carbone and Barber to score his first feature win of the season.

Frank Prell and Dan Dressel were on the front row for the Street Stocks feature event, with Prell showing the way ahead of Dressel, Gary Bartella, Dustin Novoa, and David Johnson racing in the top five. Dustin Novoa, Johnson, Tim, and Nik Welshans all battled for fourth place for the feature event. Dan Dressel slowed on the back straightaway to bring out the caution on lap five. Prell and Bartella would lead the field back to the green flag, with Prell in the lead as Novoa battled with Bartella for second place. Dustin Novoa would use the outside to take the lead ahead of Prell on lap nine, with Prell reclaiming the lead on lap 13. The caution would fly once again on lap 14, as Garret Cleversley and Chris Barber spun in turn two. On the restart, Tim Welshans would go after Prell for the lead and Mike Dalfonso challenged Novoa for third place. Tim Welshans would take the lead away on lap 18, but Prell would reclaim the lead once again on lap 19, with Mike Dalfonso battling and taking the lead coming to five laps to go. Dalfonso would hold off Mark Hoch in the final laps to score his first career Lancaster Street Stock feature.

Andy Danielwicz and John Byrd led the field of 4 Cylinders to the green flag for their feature event, with Danielwicz showing the way. Josh Schosek would take over the lead following a lap one restart and would take off on the field. Chris Deyoe Jr would move into second as Schosek continued to show the way. While the leaders hit lap traffic, Deyoe would close the gap on Schosek, but Josh Schosek was able to go on to score the feature win, his first of the season and third of his career at Lancaster.
