Heavy rain hits Can Am as Mother Nature claims another night

In a season where the racing action has been fantastic, Mother Nature has left her mark on the season at the Can Am Speedway and this past Friday night was no different.

With heavy rains, severe thunderstorms and the threat of tornadoes in many parts of the north, Can Am Speedway staff and management made the decision to cancel Friday night’s program, which was to be First Responders night brought to you by NNY Shed Builders in Lowville.

With the event rained out everything will carry over to next week, which includes the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman division with the second and final leg of the DIRTCar Sportsman North Regional Series finale plus the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modfieds, Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman Sundance Leisure Thunder Cars and FABCO DIRTCar Pro Stocks.

If that wasn’t enough racing, a mechanics race will also take place next Friday August 11th. The best of the best that wrench on these cars every week, will have their shot to, as they say to their drivers on a weekly basis, “Show the drivers how it’s done.” The speedway will also once again honor our local First Responders next Friday night. Several fire, ambulance and police vehicles will be on hand with a special parade on the track at intermission.

Spectator gates open at 5pm racing gets underway at 7pm with opening ceremonies and National Anthems by Miss Adirondak and Miss Thousand Islands.
