Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Aug. 29, 2023) – Kaleb Johnson is doing double duty this weekend at Huset’s Speedway, where he will compete in both the 410ci and 360ci winged sprint car divisions during the Bull Haulers Brawl presented by Folkens Brothers Trucking.

A larger payout and bonuses are up for grabs during the action on Saturday and Sunday.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it,” he said. “Any time you can double class close to home it’s enjoyable. We haven’t had a great year at Huset’s so just finishing it on a high note would be a great way to wrap up the season there.

“There’s some extra money on the line so hopefully we can take advantage. My goal is to get in the top three in combined points in the 410 and the 360 divisions this weekend.”

Johnson has done double duty once this season – on May 6 when he recorded a top 10 in both divisions at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

This weekend marks his first 360 races at Huset’s Speedway since this event last year. He enters the weekend ranked ninth in the track’s 410 sprint car standings thanks to three top fives and five top 10s.

“I’m excited to get back there in a 360 and hopefully with a fresh 410 we can qualify well and put ourselves in contention,” he said. “We’ve had good speed, but haven’t qualified very well. Qualifying is the main thing no matter where you go. Trying to make the feature redraw would make our night a lot easier.”

Johnson competed at Huset’s Speedway last Sunday when he was forced to race in the 410 sprint car division with a 360 engine. He qualified 17th quickest and advanced from sixth to fourth in a heat race to garner the 14th starting position in the A Main.

“We weren’t expecting to light the world on fire with a 360 in the car,” he said. “The main thing was to get through the night without anything going wrong. We did that until the feature. A couple of cars got together in front of me and I had nowhere to go and we ended up crashing. Then, with a few laps to go, something in the steering broke. We haven’t had much luck at Huset’s this year. Hopefully that turns around this weekend.”

Johnson was credited with an 18th-place result.
