MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (September 11, 2023) - Receiving short notice to pilot Troy and Tammy Renfro’s TKS Motorsports No. 2KS in Shelby County Speedway’s Cyclone Classic proved to be everything but a disadvantage to Sioux Falls, South Dakota’s Kaleb Johnson, ending his weekend with not only a consistent effort, but ultimately padding his personal stat book with a pair of top-ten finishes.
Johnson, who finished seventh in Huset’s Speedway’s 2023 championship standings, finished ninth during both evenings of the Cyclone Classic, highlighting the pair with a two-position charge from 11th in Saturday’s finale.
TKS Motorsports’ primary wheelman, Chase Randall, was scheduled to compete at Shelby County, that until a call from California sent the Waco, Texas, native to Silver Dollar Speedway for the Gold Cup Race of Champions; he finished ninth after starting 18th.
“We’re very proud of Kaleb Johnson. To go into Shelby County on such short notice and still maintain the ability to record back-to-back top-tens says a lot about his adaptability,” Troy Renfo, owner of the TKS Motorsports No. 2KS sprint car, said. “He’s been there for us in the past, so it was an easy choice to make when Chase [Randall] got the call to California.
“I’m not sure if our season is done yet or not,” Renfro added. “We may join the Outlaws in Kansas, but only time will tell.”
