WESTERN MIDGETS OPEN PAVED SLATE SATURDAY AT MADERA

The 2013 USAC Western Midget Series makes its pavement debut this Saturday at Madera (Calif.) Speedway after the dirt calendar opened two weeks ago in Arizona.

The USAC and BCRA Midgets combine for Saturday’s event and defending USAC Western Midget pavement champion Chad Nichols is expected to be among top threats for victory.

Nichols won two of last year’s Madera outings, while Scott Pierovich and Michael Snyder were the other winners. Pierovich currently sits fourth in the standings after a seventh and an eighth in the series openers.

Others expected to challenge at Madera are 2012 USAC Western Midget Champ Shannon McQueen and 8-time BCRA king Floyd Alvis.
