ARP BRINGS VRA AND USAC TOGETHER FOR THE BATTLE AT THE BEACH

(Ventura Raceway, Noel Dawson, April 5th, 2013) OXNARD, CA - In just its third season, the King of the Beach title for Midget racers in California has become one of the most sought after titles. For the second season in a row, Automotive Racing Products will be the title sponsor for the 2013 ARP Battle at the Beach series. ARP will provide the $500 winner’s bonus at each event increasing the winner’s total to $1,500 and the now famous surfboard trophy. Much like the inaugural season, this year’s Battle will bring together the best Midgets drivers from the Ventura Raceway up against the best Midget drivers from the United States Auto Club Western States Midget division.

Automotive Racing Products, based locally in Ventura, is an industry leader in engine bolts, studs, and fasteners. Automotive Racing Products has been a long time Ventura Raceway sponsor and this is the second season they have stepped up to support Midget racing in Ventura.

In 2011, Brent Camarillo and Cory Kruseman battled right down to the last lap of the season and Camarillo eventually emerged as the very first King of the Beach. Last season, Ronnie Gardner left no-doubt as to who rules the beach, as he won three out of the four races and finished third in the finale to clinch the 2012 King of the Beach title. This year’s title is up for grabs and cannot be narrowed down to less than ten drivers. The favorites have to include Gardner, and 2012 VRA Midget champion Cody Swanson, 2012 Western States Midget champion Shannon McQueen, 2012 USAC-CRA Rookie of the Year Jake Swanson, 2012 Western States Midget Dirt champion David Prickett and former VRA Sprint Car champion Troy Rutherford. Those are just a handful of names expected to make this year’s ARP Battle at the Beach not to be missed.

This year’s series encompasses four events: April 6th, May 18th, July 20th, and the finale on September 28. At the conclusion of the four race series, the champion will be honored with the traditional Tiki trophy. The first round headlines a full night of racing including Dwarf Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Mod Lites, Focus Midgets, Go-Karts, and Flat Track Quads. Pit gates open at 12 noon with front gates opening at 3:00. Racing gets underway with warm ups at 3:30 and racing getting under way at 5:30. Admission for this event is $15.00 for adults, $11.00 for Seniors, Juniors and Military. Kids under 12 are free with an adult admission.
