Jake Helsel Sweep Opening Weekend at Central Arizona Raceway with POWRi Desert Wing Sprints

Belleville, IL. (3/24/24) Debuting the first weekend of 2024 racing action with a double-header of on-track excitement at Central Arizona Speedway as the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services would witness Jake Helsel sweeping the weekend in gaining feature victories on the two-day adventure in 360 Wing-Sprint speed.

Starting the season at Central Arizona Speedway with twenty-five entries in Night One would find Tuesday Calderwood, JT Imperial, Lorne Wofford, and JJ Hickle each notch heat racing wins with JT Imperial gaining the pole-starting grid for the feature event.

Going green flag feature racing for the first time in 2024 would find Jake Helsel quickly gaining the racing advantage from the fourth starting position ahead of the hungry pack of winged 360 sprint competitors.

Using patience and precision, Helsel would out-maneuver the pack to clinch the top spot even enduring a late race restart in the feature. Holding steady out front, Jake Helsel would not be denied in notching his first career POWRi Desert Wing Sprint feature victory.

Closing late and hard-charging through the field, fifteenth-starting Chase Johnson would fly past thirteen drivers to finish runner-up as Terry McCarl would finish third from starting eighth. Twelfth-starting Rick Ziehl placed fourth with seventh-starting JJ Hickle rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series on Night One at Central Arizona Raceway.

Proceeding into the second night of opening weekend racing would witness JT Imperial, Chase Johnson, and Caleb Saiz each winning heat races with Jesse Baker earning the pole-starting grid for the feature event.

Flying into the second night of feature action with twenty-three entries would find Jake Helsel grab the lead to wheel his way out front of the field and notch his second straight career POWRi DWSS feature victory with JT Imperial finishing runner-up as Terry McCarl finalized the podium placements.

Contending up front, Chase Johnson would finish fourth with Rick Ziehl rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series Night Two of the 2024 opening weekend double-header at Central Arizona Raceway.
