SEASON OPENER UPDATE:

SEASON OPENER UPDATE:

Lincoln Speedway race officials are still holding out hopes of starting the 2024 season this coming weekend at the 1/4-mile dirt track located in Lincoln, IL.

Originally set for Friday night, April 5, the new plan is for Saturday afternoon, April 6, to allow for more dry time and higher temperatures on race day. If conditions improve over the next 24 hours, the plan will be to race on Saturday afternoon with an early start time of 5 PM.

With cold temperatures and a high amount of rainfall during the week, Lincoln Speedway's original date of Friday would not work. Track officials immediately began looking at Saturday's forecast and have gone to work on a plan to allow for an extra day of dry time and better weather on race day. Officials will have further updates on Friday to confirm whether the Saturday action will take place.

Being potentially the only area track in action, Saturday’s show is expected to be a big one, with five divisions of racing on tap. The divisions include the DIRTcar Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Sportsman, and the MARA Midgets.

If the Saturday plan comes to fruition, start times will be moved up to allow fans and teams to enjoy warmer temperatures while at the track. Pits will open at 1:00, grandstands at 3:00, hotlaps will start at 4:00, and racing will take the green at 5:00 PM.

Grandstand admission will be $15, while kids 11 and under are free. Tickets will be available at the gate upon arrival.

**Race officials will make further updates throughout the day on Friday, passing along info on condition improvement, etc.
