Dover has Tough Finish on a Tough Track at ASCS Warrior Region Opener

Inside Line Promotions – GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (April 23, 2013) – The thin line of grip on the bottom of the track between the big infield tires and sliding up the track was finite on Friday at Valley Speedway.

Jack Dover straddled that line for the first half of the 30-lap ASCS Warrior Region opening event before it bit him with approximately 12 laps remaining.

“The track was very difficult all night,” he said. “It was blowing dust in hot laps and right around the bottom the rest of the night.

“I had driven up to fifth and was trying to get around a car for fourth place when I clipped an infield tire. I just bumped it, but it ruined the left front wheel.”

The impact knocked Dover out of the event, which he finished 11th – his first result outside the top five this season.

It was a tough ending after Dover was able to advance from fourth place to third during his heat race on the tough track, which earned him one of the eight positions in the redraw that lines up the first four rows of the feature. Unfortunately, Dover picked the No. 8.

With passing at a premium, Dover maneuvered into the top five and spent a half-dozen laps trying to get into fourth place when the miscue happened.

“I lost my patience,” he said. “I just went in a little too far and hit a tire.”

Dover is scheduled to head to Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Neb., on Saturday for an event with the Nebraska 360 Sprints. He last raced at the third-mile oval in 2009.
