CDR: Defending the Salina Highbanks!

The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 made their only stop of the season in ‘The Sooner State’ on Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway after heavy thunderstorms on Friday postponed action. With ‘The Highbanks’ back on the schedule after a year of absence, Craig Dollansky was eager to return to the track in Salina, Oklahoma since picking up the inaugural STP World of Outlaws event at the 3/8-mile track in 2011.

Set to go with 22 drivers signed into the pit area, a lightning-fast track in qualifying saw twenty-one of the competitors break Dollansky’s previous track record with the MobileStar Maxim timing in 9th. Twelve cars inverted into three heats then put ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ outside row one of heat three where he raced to the victory. Luck of the draw for the dash inversion by way of an eight pill again put the Big Game Treestands backed sprinter outside the front row and, similar to the heat, Dollansky powered out front to win the 6-lap event.

Earning the right to start on the pole of the A-Main for the first time this season, Dollansky led the field to the green and jumped out to an early lead before approaching lapped traffic by just lap 3. Knifing through traffic, the Elk River, Minnesota native continued to set the pace on an ultra-fast racing surface. As green flag action in the feature continued, Dollansky fought off charges from Paul McMahan as the laps wound down and the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 raced to the checkered flag for the second time this season leading all thirty circuits of the main event.

“We had to put ourselves in a position to have a little luck on our side and also capitalize on it,” commented Dollansky. “We were losing some air in the right rear tire and getting tight so we had to adjust our line a little and watch what we were doing with lapped cars. I’m proud of this race team, it’s been a year of adversity so far but to get our second win of the year is great for Eyecon Trail Cameras, Aggressive Hydraulics, MobileStar, Aeroquip, and many others.

“It’s always a team effort when you when, my guys DJ, Sean, Chevy who is now onboard, and Pete who helps part-time work very hard. For the fans to wait through some of the rain is not easy but SLS works hard to put on races for us and make sure we have a good race track. With the rain it made it tough but we were able to get the show in and it was a lot of hard fast racing.”

Up next for the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team is a pair of events at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio beginning this Friday, May 3rd.
