Inside Line Promotions - KENNEDALE, Texas (May 20, 2013) - Friday was a work in progress for John Binz.
Competing at Kennedale Speedway Park, where he has recorded a couple of career-best podium finishes, Binz ran into a heavy track during both of his winged micro sprint heat races.
Binz finished sixth after starting on the inside of the fourth row of the first heat. He then placed sixth in the second heat after starting on the pole.
"The race track was super, super heavy and we missed it both times," he said. "We were just way too tight for both races."
That lined Binz up 17th out of the 21 cars for the 30-lap feature.
"It was kind of racy there in the feature," he said. "Everybody got strung out and you couldn't run anybody down. It was kind of whatever you got on the start."
With only one caution, Binz picked up a half-dozen positions to finish 11th and narrowly miss out on his seventh top 10 of the season.
"It was kind of wide open, follow the leader," he said. "It was one of those deals were we missed it in the heat race and put ourselves behind the eight ball."
Binz will return to Kennedale Speedway Park for a race on Friday.
