KELLYVILLE, Okla. (February 1, 2025) - The Ortco, Inc. United Sprint League presented by Same Day Auto Repair celebrated the 2024 racing season along with the AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories Oil Capital Racing Series in a combined banquet on Saturday at the Creek County Fairgrounds.
Top 10 drivers and season champions received awards, sponsors were honored and plans for the 2025 season was released followed by a night of music and dancing provided by Dirt Road Detours.
Nick Newton, co-owner of Ortco, Inc., made and donated beautiful one-of-a-kind trophies for the USL top 10 drivers and champion Johnny Kent who was honored for winning a second consecutive championship. Joe Bob Lee was recognized as a two-time OCRS champion. Lee won his first title in 2021.
The following sponsors helped take the USL to a successful 2024 season. Ortco, Inc. Same Day Auto Repair, Morton Excavating, Speed Stix Shocks, Kent Fireworks, DFR Discount Tire, D&G Contracting, Car & Fleet Parts, Lumber Lounge and Garage, Sonny’s Grocery, Maxwell Oil and Encore Builders. At the banquet, more support was gained for USL with Oklahomatidbits, H&R AutoGlass and Risley’s Trash Service all coming on board as sponsors for 2025.
USL owner-promoter Michael Tyre presented a report of the strides made with the series in 2024 thanks to all the sponsors that came on board, and announced that tow money will be increased in 2025 for those with perfect attendance and will now be paid to drivers outside of the top 10 with perfect attendance. Heat race money will also continue in 2025.
Start2Finish will video USL and OCRS races in 2025 and Tyre wants to use that revenue to seed a USL drivers point fund. Nearly $25,000 in added money and merchandise is expected to be paid out in 2025 in addition to the nightly event purse.
OCRS owner Tim Kent also announced some changes for 2025. Drivers will see an increase in purse payout and the drivers feature redraw will be dropped and replaced with a dash to determine feature starting position. The annual AmeriFlex Challenge will now pay $5,000-to-win and $500-to-start in 2025 and drivers will only have to enter one OCRS event prior to the Challenge to be eligible for the event.
The 2025 USL season will open March 22 at Red Dirt Raceway. The OCRS season opener is also at Red Dirt Raceway on March 7-8.
