Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (June 30, 2013) July is set to be a busy one for the ASCS Nation as the month of our nation’s birth opens with 13 events among seven regions as well as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real National Tour.
Below is a quick overview of the week’s festivities. Starting Monday, more detailed press will be given regarding each region’s events including support classes, websites, and current statistical breakdown for each region.
ASCS Northwest Region
Making up the lion’s share of the coming week’s events, the Bully Dog Performance Speedweek Northwest presented by Contingency Connection, having already completed a pair of nights at the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., will move to the state of Oregon for the remaining five nights.
Travis Rilat and Roger Crockett spilt the Speedweek opener at the Washington oval with Crockett currently leading the Northwest Speedweek point standings.

Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region
It’s a three day weekend for the Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region. Starting Thursday, July 4, at the Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, the Gulf South region will hit up the Texana Raceway Park on Friday, July 5 before finally landing at the Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas on Saturday, July 6.

Speedway Motors Warrior Region
A pair of nights grace the Speedway Motors Warrior Region schedule this week with the Double X Speedway in California, Mo. taking on a Friday night ahead of the Randolph County Speedway in Moberly, Mo.
Normally a Sunday stop, Jonathan Cornell’s second of three wins on the season came at the Double X Speedway on May 26. Fitting, as the date was a dedication to the late Jesse Hockett who also piloted a VKCC Motorsports entry.
The Randolph County Raceway is a big half-mile, high banked, facility located just outside Moberly, Mo.
Formerly known as 24 Raceway, the oval was constructed between 1988 and 1989, and had undergone several improvements since its purchase in 2012, including the removal of the remaining asphalt that sat under the track’s clay surface.

Smiley’s Racing Products Lone Star / American Bank of Okla. Sooner
The classic battle of Oklahoma vs. Texas returns to the Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday, July 6 with the score currently tipped to the sooner state. In the regional pairing on May 18, Oklahoma’s Danny Wood raced from eleventh to victory at the famed half-mile.
Matt Covington currently leads the Lone Star standings with Mike Goodman on top of the Sooner points. With the points split within this Saturday’s regional matchup, Goodman will seek to expand his lead with the Sooner Region while Covington stands to earn first place points in each region.

Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region
A single night in the ‘’Valley of the Sun” awaits the Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region as the Arizona based series heads for the Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek on Saturday, July 6.
Rick Ziehl continues his march to a sixth consecutive Southwest title, coming off his eighth top five finish of 2013 last Saturday at the Tucson International Raceway. The Las Cruces, N.M. driver has not finished off the podium in the last seven dates with the Southwest Region.

Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real / Speedway Motors Midwest Region
Saturday, July 6 will have the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real paired with the Speedway Motors Midwest Region at the high banked I-90 Speedway in Hartford, S.D.
The beginning of the National Tour’s western trek, the Saturday date is the sixth time the series has visited the South Dakota oval.
The nineteenth event of the 2013 season for the National arm of the ASCS Nation, the South Dakota visit is the fifth for the Speedway Motors Midwest Region which is currently being ruled over by defending point’s champion Jack Dover with a pair wins, three top fives’, and just as many top ten finishes.
Dover also has a National Tour victory to his credit in 2013, taking the Steve King Memorial at the Great American Dirt Track in Jetmore, Kan. on May 25.
