Southwest Region ready for Phoenix run

Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (July 2, 2013) The Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region returns to the Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. on Saturday, July 6 for the series second appearance of the 2013 season.

The thirteenth date on the race calendar, the Saturday card will include Pure Stocks, Bombers, and Dwarf Cars. Races are slated to begin at 8:00 P.M. (MST).

Rick Ziehl continues his march to series title six, 164 markers ahead of Billy Chester and 205 ahead of Joshua Williams. Kaylene Verville holds fourth with Lance Norick completing the top five in driver standings.

Coming into this weekends event at the Arizona Speedway, the season as produced six winners over twelve nights. New Mexico’s Lorne Wofford has topped the Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region four times with Jason Johnson, Rick Ziehl, and Logan Forler each at two triumphs. Brian Brown and Roger Crockett each have a single victory.

A-Feature laps total 310 with Rick Ziehl having lead 76. Lorne Wofford has topped 64 revolutions with Jason Johnson at 55. Overall, 10 drivers have lead laps in the Southwest with Brian Brown (33), Logan Forler (26), Kyle McCutcheon (23), Johnny Herrera (18), Billy Chester (10), Roger Crockett (4), and R.J. Johnson (1) having led.

Drivers from 14 states have graced the Southwest ovals (AZ, AR, CA, CO, IA, LA, NE, NM, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA) with a total of 71 drivers checking in so far this season.

The season’s average car count stands 21.083 cars per race. This includes the first four nights of the season that were paired with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real. The highest car count so far in 2013 was seen at the Tucson International Raceway on February 22 with 36 cars.

Six B-Features have been contested with just as many winners as well as 35 Heat Races among 26 winners.
