PETERSEN MEDIA: Off of a solid Ohio Speedweek, Brandon Wimmer and his Destiny Motorsports team headed to the Waynesfield Raceway Park on Wednesday for the 2nd Annual Bob Reynolds Memorial, and pocketed a fourth place finish.
“We had a pretty good car, and were racing with some tough guys, and came away with a fourth place finish, so I’m pretty happy with that,” Wimmer said.
Starting in the fourth spot in his heat race, Wimmer was very fast aboard his Mondak Portables/Rick Rogers Construction/Speedmart entry, as he charged his way forward to the heat race win, and earned a berth in the night’s Dash.
Pulling a three for the dash, Wimmer scored a third place finish in the Dash, but their format put him in the fifth position for the 40-lap feature event.
Wimmer continued to show speed through the night, as the top four raced with a ‘blanket’ over them, as he battled with Tim Shaffer, Randy Hannagan, and Butch Schroeder.
Battling with the top-three for the majority of the race, Wimmer ended up rolling across the stripe with a fourth place finish.
“We were every bit as good as the top three, and actually had a good battle all race long, just came up a little short,” he said. “We have been in the shop getting stuff ready for some big races this weekend.”
