5/9/2025 Hutchinson, KS (www.urssracing.com) - The United Rebel Sprint Series stormed into SaltCity Racing in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Friday night, and fans witnessed a powerful story of persistence and payoff as Brian Herbert drove to victory in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car A-Feature.

Herbert, piloting the No. 97 sprint car, pulled off a memorable win—his first with the URSS since July 2016 at RPM Speedway and the 23rd of his career with the series since 2008. The long-awaited triumph didn’t come easy. Herbert worked his way to the front of a fast-paced 20-lap feature and held off strong challenges from a hungry field of contenders.

“I was excited as all can be getting that checkered flag tonight,” Herbert said in victory lane. “A couple years ago, we were so close to hanging up the helmet on this deal, but we finally have ironed out the kinks—and I couldn’t be more happy with how the year is going.”

Jeremy Huish (88J) gave chase and crossed the line in second, with Jeremy Campbell (51) rounding out the podium after a smooth and steady run. Early front-runners Jake Martens (17X) and Jordan Knight (88) completed the top five, both showing competitive speed throughout the night.

Pole Dash winner Johnny Boos (24B) looked poised to grab his first career URSS win after sweeping his heat and dash, but slipped back to sixth in the main event. It was a strong showing for the Colorado driver, who came just a few laps short of history.

Taylor Velasquez (21X) rebounded from a heat race DNF to take seventh, while Ty Williams (911), Tyler Knight (11K), and Steven Richardson (20) rounded out the top ten.

It was a night filled with tight racing, comebacks, and emotional milestones—but above all, it was a night that belonged to Brian Herbert, who reminded everyone that champions never quit.

The URSS returns to action Saturday night at Dodge City Raceway Park for the prestigious Rick Salem Memorial as part of the annual Thunder Through the Plains tour. The event honors the late founder of the United Rebel Sprint Series and is always a special stop on the calendar. Racing begins at 7 p.m.—you won’t want to miss it!
