Ryan Tusing goes elbows up to win at the Historic Bloomington Speedway

On a beautiful night in southern Indiana, the Huntley Hoosier Sprint Series saw 26 305 sprint cars check in to try and tame the Historic Bloomington Speedway. The theme of the night was Pink out which was sponsored by iWIN. The Indiana Women In Need group sponsors the 23T of Ashton Thompson and supports individuals across the state that are receiving treatment for breast cancer. Terre Haute, Indiana driver Carson Dillion piloted his number 83 machine to fast time with a lap of 11.118 seconds. He was followed closely by the 14 of Ethan Barrow and the 3C of Ryan Tusing. Heat race 1 was won by the 14 of Ethan Barrow followed by the hard charging 15J of Jeff Wimmenauer who started 6th in the heat. The 22H of Rod Henning rounded out your top 3 in heat race 1. Heat Race 2 was won by your quick qualifier of Carson Dillion. He was able to keep his 83 machine ahead of the 3C of Ryan Tusing and the 23T of Ashton Thompson. Heat race 2 also saw the 39 of Justin Matthews bicycle and flip in turns 1 and 2. He would be a scratch for the rest of the night. Heat 3 was dominated by Matthew McDonald in his 5M machine. The 7F of Ethan Fleetwood ran 2nd despite heavy amounts of smoke coming from his car. The 23P of John Paynter Jr would round out your top 3. The B Main was won by the 13C of Josh Cevela. Other cars to transfer to the feature include the 88 of Charlie Stines, the 64S of Blake Sholders, the 11V of Jonathan Vennard and the 45 of Eric Perrott. 19 cars would take the green flag for the feature after the 7F of Ethan Fleetwood failed to get his car fixed from the issues that presented themselves in his heat race. The track had an immense amount of character come feature time which made it tricky to navigate for the drivers. The15J of Jeff Wimmernauer would jump out to a quick lead and set the pace through the opening 15 laps. After a caution for a spinning car tightened the field back up the 3C of Ryan Tusing set his sights on the 15J and would not be denied. The the 64S of Blake Sholders would take a tumble in turn 1 resulting in a red flag. On the restart that followed the red flag Tusing would make the pass for the win on the tricky Bloomington Speedway track to pick up his first win of the season. Wimmenauer would hold strong in 2nd place followed by the 5M of Matthew McDonald, 23F of Dustin Clark and the 83 of Carson Dillion. Your Hard Charger award goes to Blayne Ridgley in the 11R machine. He started 14th and ended in 6th place. Thank you to everyone at Bloomington Speedway for their hard work to get this rain in despite all the rain we have had this spring. The next time you will see the Huntley Hoosier Winged Sprint Series is Saturday May 17th at Paragon Speedway.
