Heading into the off week many of the top stars of the Can Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York, will have an extra week to let the spoils of victory lane sink in while others who came close, will have another week and think, what might have been on Armed Forces Tribute night.
Last week Tim Fuller put all the bad luck behind him by using a key restart on lap 17 of the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTcar 358 Modified feature event. Fuller came from 4th spot on the final restart to take 2nd from early race leader Remington Hamm, then passed Tyler Meeks in turn 3 to take the top spot away for good. The win was Fuller’s 48th Modified win at Can Am and put him just 6 points back of Co-point leaders Lance Willix and Billy Dunn. Following Fuller across the line was Remington Hamm, points leaders Billy Dunn and Lance Willix while Jordan McCreadie finished a strong 5th.
Josh Reome flexed his muscle at the right time near the end of last Friday’s Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTcar Sportsman feature. Reome came from third spot on the final restart to take the lead away from Eric Nier and march on to record his 8th career Can Am Sportsman win. Nier crossed in 2nd while Gavin Eisele came from 10th to finished third, Jessica Power charged from 23rd spot to finish in 4th with defending track champion Mike Fowler coming from 13th to complete the top 5
Josh Verne Jr. rebounded from some early season struggles to take his first Panther Frameworx Crate Sprint Car win of 2025 and 16th of his Can Am career. Verne took the lead after a spirited battle with veteran George Sanford and new comer Jon Liberty to score the victory. Liberty did everything he could do but came up short in a bid for his first win crossing in 2nd over Sanford, Tucker Donath and last week’s winner Andrew Hennessy.
Who can beat Genavieve Bartlett is the question everyone is asking in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman. Much like the prior week, Bartlett used a late race restart to power by race leader Mike Durham and cruise on to win her third straight feature event and 4th of her Can Am career, after coming from the number 8 starting spot. Durham held on for second with Eymarah Bowman, Mason Rogers and Brayden Bullock scored his second straight top 5 finish.
Five cars battled through the entire 15 lap Sundance Leisure Thundercar feature, leaving many wondering, who was going to come out on top. Tony Frezzo looked to be the driver to stop Corey Valade’s win streak, but a flat tire slowed his pace late in the race. Justin Pope and Valade battled on the final lap heading into turn three but the two drivers made contact sending Valade into the wall. Anthony St. Mary Jr. got by both drivers coming from third to first to score his 5th career Thundercar win at Can Am. 2023 track champion Francis White crossed in second over David Rasmussen, Jared Gilson and Collin Bauter.
After this week off the annual Summer Starter for the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTcar 358 Modified takes center stage with Lance Willix looking to go back to back. Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTcar Sportsman, Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman, Panther Frameworx Crate Sprints and Sundance Leisure Thundercars will also be in action.
