Belleville, IL. (7/18/25) Following standard post-race technical inspection from the POWRi Hornet feature event at Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday, July 12th, the No. 20 entry of Kyle Burton was disqualified for a violation of the POWRi Hornet Division Rulebook.
Inspection of the top three finishers revealed that the No. 20 car was utilizing non-OEM camshafts, specifically identified as Stage 1 reground cams, which are not permitted under Hornet division rules requiring unaltered OEM engine components matching the VIN. This determination was confirmed through multiple measurements on-site and remote verification.
The driver was offered additional options for independent review and declined all further inspection opportunities.
As a result, the following penalties have been issued:
• Disqualification from the July 12 event at Lake Ozark Speedway
• Loss of all 2025 National POWRi points
• Suspension from all POWRi events until January, 2026
• $750.00 Fine
• Suspension remains in effect until the fine is paid and car passes technical inspection
POWRi remains committed to maintaining a fair and level playing field for all competitors and appreciates the cooperation of its teams in upholding the integrity of the sport.
