Binz To Take Time Off After Rough Outing at Kennedale Speedway Park

Inside Line Promotions - KENNEDALE, Texas (Aug. 12, 2013) - John Binz said it is time for him to take some time off from racing to regroup.

"I'm probably going to take a couple of weeks off before I get back going," he said. "I've spent a lot of money this year. It's getting to the point where I need some help to get to the track each week. I need to get everything in order."

Binz had a frustrating weekend at Kennedale Speedway Park as he fought with engine issues on both Friday and Saturday, when his mini sprint was sidelined before things ever got going.

"It just wouldn't run on Saturday," he said. "It struggled during hot laps and we never got to race."

The engine began to act up on Friday during the first of two heat races, when he finished third in his first heat race and fourth in the second heat.

"In the first heat race it took off and ran alright," he said. "It wasn't as good as it has been. In the second heat race it wouldn't take off at all. Everybody passed me before I got to the flag stand. It wasn't a very fun night at all. It ran once it got going, but it didn't run as well as it should."

That lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event. A struggling issue was compounded on Lap 3 when Binz dove to the bottom in turn three.

"I ended up barely hitting the infield tire going into turn three," he said. "It didn't bend the front axle, just got it enough to get the car out of balance. It spun me like 90 degrees and I slid into the next tire. I bent the right nerf bar and it was just enough to make a big enough deal. It was barely rubbing and we pulled off."

Binz placed eighth, which was his 11th top-10 finish of the season. He is going to take the down time during the next couple of weeks to look into the engine issue.

"I don't know if it's the fuel pump or the fuel filter or the motor," he said. "I don't know. I'm kinda lost right now."
