Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Aug. 18, 2025) – Kaleb Johnson continued his consistency at Huset’s Speedway last Sunday after spending most of the week recuperating from an injured leg following a wild wreck the previous weekend.
“I felt pretty good,” the Team DGRD driver said. “It didn’t really bother me much and when you’re in the race car you have so much to think about so I didn’t think about my leg.”
Johnson qualified third quickest in his group and won a heat race to advance into the feature redraw. He then drew the No. 6 to start the Cressman Sanitation Midwest Sprint Touring Series 410 Sprint Cars main event on the outside of the third row.
“I think we qualified okay,” he said. “The earlier you went out the better you were. We got a good start to the heat race and clean air helped there. I felt pretty good in the heat race.
“Come feature-time I knew it’d be a little tougher starting sixth. I didn’t get the greatest start and washed up the track. That let a couple of guys get by me. As the race went on we were decent. I tried to use the middle and top a couple of times, but the bottom was the way to go. I didn’t need that last restart as I was passing (Mark) Dobmeier for third as the caution came out, but sometimes cautions work for you and sometimes they work against you.”
Johnson’s fifth-place result extends his streak of top fives at Huset’s Speedway to nine in a row during points races this season – the only driver to accomplish that feat. He owns a 24-point lead in the championship standings with two points races remaining at the high-banked oval.
Johnson plans to compete with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the Gerdau presents the 2nd Leg of the World of Outlaws Northern Tour and Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., during the Ellingson presents the Duel in the Dakotas before returning to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday.
