Sorce, Warner claim repeat PDTR track titles - Mullen bags Dolhun Sr. Classic cash

Berth, Ruh notch A-main wins

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 22, 2025 – Multi-time Plymouth Dirt Track Racing track champions Will Sorce of Franksville (Grand Nationals) and Tim Warner of Malone (B Mods) added to their PDTR championship collections to close out the 2025 campaign on Friday, Aug. 22, at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.

A late-race pass propelled Mike Mullen of Seymour to a $3,500 victory in the 40-lap WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Ted Dolhun Sr. Classic.

Brandon Berth of Cascade outdueled two-time and defending track champion Ben Schmidt of Plymouth in the closing laps to notch the win in the 25-lap Akright Auto 360 Sprint Car main event.

Mavrick Ruh of Elkhart Lake earned his first career 25-lap Oostburg Automotive Grand National A-main victory, as Will Sorce secured his third consecutive division title.

Tim Warner put a seal on his fourth PDTR Sheboygan Flooring B Mod title by earning the victory in the 25-lap main event.

After polesitter Nick Anvelink of Bonduel nipped outside front row starter Taylor Scheffler of Waukesha to lead the opening circuit, calamity ensued on lap two when Scheffler got out of shape exiting turn four and collected six-time PDTR Late Model champion Brad Mueller of Random Lake and Troy Springborn of Shawano. Mueller and Springborn suffered too much damage to continue.

When the race resumed, seventh starter Brett Swedberg of Shawano ducked low to take second away from 2014 PDTR Late Model champion Mitch McGrath of Waukesha, who started third, on lap 3.

Swedberg flexed his muscle by pulling up next to Anvelink to challenge for the lead on lap 4. Anvelink maintained the top spot and built up a solid cushion over McGrath by lap 8.

On lap 17, Anvelink caught the rear of the field just before Justin Ritchie of New London stopped in turn four to bring out the second caution flag of the event.

Swedberg bested McGrath on the restart to seize second before the third caution appeared for the spinning car of Shawn Miller of Gillett on lap 21. Following the final restart, 10th starter Mike Mullen became a factor as he edged past Swedberg to take over second in the running order.

Mullen moved in to pressure Anvelink for the top spot starting on lap 23, staying within striking distance over the next 15 laps. The veteran driver pounced with a race-winning low move when Anvelink slipped high in turn four on lap 38.

Anvelink, who owns seven career Dirt Kings Tour season championships, battled back on the final lap. Still, Mullen held on by a car length to secure his second career Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz PDTR Late Model A-main victory and ninth career Dirt Kings main event triumph.

Anvelink had to settle for second, Swedberg was third, Joel Bennett of Hortonville charged up from the 12th starting spot to take fourth and Taylor Scheffler battled back from the rear of the field following his lap 2 incident to place fifth.

The 360 Sprint Car A-main got off to a rocky start when the machine of Trevor’s Ellie Hensley rolled in turn one to bring out a red flag. When the race got under, second starter Brandon Berth bolted into the lead before West Bend’s Alex Pokorski stormed into second from the fourth starting position on lap 4.

Five laps later, Pokorski hit the front stretch wall after dueling with Sheboygan’s Scotty Thiel, who started third. The incident brought out a caution flag and prompted Pokorski to head to the work area to replace a flat right rear tire.

On the restart, fifth starter Ben Schmidt flew around Thiel to nail down second and quickly set his sights on the lead. Schmidt tracked down Berth and used a low move to take over the top spot on lap 10.

Five laps later, Thiel stole second from Berth and began to reel in Schmidt. Another caution flag came out on lap 17 for the slowing car of Shane Wenninger of Kewaskum.

Following the restart, Berth shot past Thiel and rapidly cut the gap to Schmidt. Shortly after the restart, Berth made the decisive move, rebounding to retake the lead on lap 18.

He then pulled away to record his second career PDTR 360 Sprint Car triumph and eighth career Midwest Sprint Car Association main event win.

Schmidt took second, Thiel was third, current point leader Kevin Karnitz of West Bend advanced from the eighth starting spot to finish fourth and seventh starter Tony Wondra of Campbellsport finished fifth.

Polesitter Mavrick Ruh bolted into the lead on the opening lap of the Grand National main event and wasted no time in opening up a large lead over third starter Jason Juech of Plymouth.

By lap 8, Ruh had built up a full straightaway cushion over Juech. Ruh ran away over the final 17 laps to capture his first career PDTR Grand National A-main victory in the caution-free race.

Juech was second, 2022 PDTR Grand National champ Luke Scholten of Oostburg took third after starting fifth, 2019 champion Tyler Kulow of Plymouth placed from the 10th starting position, and Will Sorce moved up from the eighth starting slot to capture his third career PDTR Grand National season title with a fifth place showing.

Outside front row starter Brendan Ostrowski of Milwaukee assumed the lead on lap 1 of the B Mod main event. On lap 5, the first of three caution flags was displayed for the spinning car of Parker Glander of Sheboygan Falls.

When the race resumed, Carsin Cullen of Chilton charged in to challenge Ostrowski for the lead beginning on lap 8. The leaders encountered slower traffic on lap 15 before the second caution came out for the stalled car of Sheboygan’s Steve Lorier on lap 18.

As the laps wound down, Ostrowski spun into the infield in turn two after racing with Cullen in close quarters on lap 21, which allowed 11th starter Tim Warner to take advantage by bolting into the top spot one lap later. The third and final caution flag was presented on lap 23 for a two-car incident in turn four.

Warner held on over the final two circuits to bag his fourth career PDTR B Mod track championship and division-leading 14th career A-main win.

Cullen placed third, 10th starter Matt Urban of Milwaukee placed third, Spencer Long of Sheboygan Falls charged up from the 14th starting spot to finish fourth and Brandon Knepprath of Kewaskum took fifth from the eighth starting position.

Derek Kaat of Plymouth won the 12-lap Grand National B Main.

Mitch McGrath set a new Late Model track record in securing the evening’s top qualifier honors with a lap of 12.828 seconds.

Billy Kreutz of Kiel earned 360 Sprint Car fast qualifier accolades with a fast lap of 12.241 seconds.

The event attracted a field of 93 entries, including 21 Dirt Kings Late Models, 26 360 Sprint Cars, 24 Grand Nationals and 22 B Mods.

The next event at The Plymouth Dirt Track features the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing 410 Sprint Car Series joining the PDTR 360 Sprint Cars during the Sheboygan County Fair on Friday, Aug. 29.
