Inside Line Promotions – CHICO, Calif. (Aug. 25, 2025) – Dominic Scelzi posted his career-best Kubota High Limit Racing result twice last weekend with a pair of eighth-place finishes during the Mike Curb Gold Cup Race of Champions presented by NOS Energy Drink at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Scelzi was the Hard Charger by passing the most cars on Friday, when he advanced from 22nd to eighth. He gained the second-most positions during Saturday’s finale, hustling from 18th to eighth.
“It was a good weekend,” he said. “We changed everything but the driver’s seat. I felt like there were improvements. I have a good idea where we need to go as a team. Our goal was for the car to be completely different and to make it better and it was. That was exciting for me. It gave me some confidence back knowing when we changed some stuff we could drive forward through the field. We had two good runs and I think that was my best High Limit performance to date.”
Scelzi opened his preliminary night on Friday by qualifying 14th quickest overall. A sixth-place result in a heat race relegated him to the B Main. Scelzi placed second in the B Main to earn a transfer into the back of the main event.
“We kept working at it,” he said. “Every time we’d come in we’d change something to try to make ourselves better. In the feature, we got to sixth with a couple of laps to go. I made the decision I wanted to be fifth and I tried to rip the top. I hung off turn two and got passed by a couple of guys, but all in all it was a good performance.”
Scelzi placed third in a qualifier on Saturday to lock into the main event.
“The qualifiers were hard to pass in so we got in line and ran third, which got us into the feature,” he said. “I knew if things went right we could move forward. Unfortunately, the track laid rubber early. I tried to be smart and not burn my tires off. We thankfully made it all 40 laps and moved forward for our second straight eighth-place result.”
Scelzi will join High Limit Racing this Thursday through Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., during the Skagit Nationals presented by 26 Promotions.
