Oil Region Labor Day Classic: Tri-City Raceway Park’s Three-Night Dirt Racing Showdown!

The 2025 dirt racing season at Tri-City Raceway Park continues with a bang as the Oil Region Labor Day Classic takes over the track from Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31. This three-night event features touring series, division battles, and special tribute races—promising high-speed action and memorable moments for racers and fans alike.

Friday night kicks off with the RUSH Late Model Touring Series competing for $4,000 to win. Back in May, Daryl Charlier earned his first career RUSH Tour victory at Tri-City in an exciting race that energized the crowd. Also on Friday is the 12th and final 410 Sprint Car race of the season, sponsored by Hovis Auto and Truck Supply, paying $3,000 to win. Leading the sprint wins this season is Ricky Peterson Jr. with four victories, while A.J. Flick holds two wins.

Friday’s schedule also includes twin time trials for the Shawgo Real Estate Pro Stocks and the Complete Car Care Center RUSH Sprint Cars, plus the fan-favorite “King of the Hill” Pro Stock Challenge, where drivers race head-to-head for $500 and bragging rights. The Complete Car Care Center RUSH Sprint Cars will also run a Non-Winners Race, paying $300, giving winless drivers one last chance at victory.

Saturday night highlights the BRP Modified Tour running a 35-lap, $2,500-to-win feature with a total purse of $12,870 for the 24-car A-Main. Rex King Jr. won the May BRP race at Tri-City, with the June event canceled due to rain. Supporting Saturday’s lineup are the Penn Ohio Pro Stock Touring Series for $1,500 to win, the first of two Ray’s Races for the Shawgo Real Estate Pro Stocks, honoring the late Ray Virgile, and the Complete Car Care Center RUSH Sprint Cars racing for $800 to win. The Complete Car Care Center RUSH Sprint Car division, led by Blaze Myers with 9 wins in 13 features, also takes the track Saturday. After the racing, fans can enjoy a bonfire, live DJ, and cornhole tournament.

Sunday night starts early at 6:30 PM with the BRP Modified Tour’s second 35-lap, $2,500-to-win race, the Penn Ohio Pro Stocks again competing for $2,500 to win, the second Ray’s Race for the Shawgo Real Estate Pro Stocks, the Complete Car Care Center RUSH Sprint Cars racing for $1,000, and the Clarion County RUSH Stock Cars closing out the weekend with a $600-to-win feature.

The Shawgo Real Estate Pro Stock division features a tight three-way battle this season, with Mike Miller, Bobby Whitling, and Curt J. Bish each holding three wins. They will aim to break the tie in the two special Ray’s Races honoring Ray Virgile’s legacy.

The RUSH Stock division has been competitive all season, led by Billy Myers (4 wins), Raidden Wilson (3 wins), and William Baker (2 wins).

Weekend passes are available for $50 (grandstands) or $100 (pits), with free camping included. Single-day tickets cost $20 for general admission and $40 for pit access.

THE MARSH HEATING & COOLING WINNER CHALLENGE

The race to the top of the Marsh Heating & Cooling Heat Race Winner Challenge standings is far from settled but the finish line is in sight with only four more races on the schedule, and right now two are tied for first. Raidden Wilson and Blaze Myers each have a have dozen wins.
So far this season, 28 drivers have managed to grab multiple heat race wins, keeping things exciting and unpredictable. There's a log jam for second and the overall winner is far from decided with a handful of competitors tied with five wins. Erick Rudolph, Logan McCandless, Jeremy Weaver, Matt Farnham and Brad Rapp. Gale Ruth Jr., Zach Morrow,
and Russ Coyne, each sitting with four checkered flags to their names.

Hot on their heels are Rex King Jr., Zach Wilson, Jon Lee, Cameron Kramer and Brandon Matus all boasting three heat wins apiece — and looking hungry for more. It’s a tight group, and with so many fast cars in the field, anything can happen as the season continues.

There are also 12 drivers who’ve picked up two wins so far, and an impressive 35 others who’ve made their way to heat race victory lane at least once — talk about depth in the field!
With so much talent spread across the board and plenty of racing still ahead, the Marsh Heating & Cooling Heat Race Winner Challenge is shaping up to right down to the final night of the season.
