(Mercer,Pa)
A historic night is on tap for Saturday night September 6 2025 as the Rich Farmer owned All star circuit of champions sprints cars return for the 2nd time in 2025 to compete in the historic “western Pa sprint car championship” paying $5000 to win which dates back to 1966 at the speedway.
After a few years of a void in sprint car racing for the talent of locals of Ohio and Pennsylvania Rich Farmer and his group has resuscitated the All-Star circuit of champion sprint cars in the off season and has been a rousing success in the rebirth year. This season with the exception of Latrobe, every track has had greater than 21 cars. Kalib Henry is leading the points over Devon Borden and Zane DeVault. Cale Thomas won the “Bud Miller tribute” at Mercer in late June over Devon Borden and AJ Flick.
The “Western Pa sprint car championship” began in 1966 with the “master of Mercer “ Ralph Quarterson winning the first 4 years. National sprint car hall of fame members including Kenny Weld, Jan Opperman, Lynn Paxton, Lou Blaney along with modern era drivers Ed Lynch Jr., Brian Ellwnberger and Adam Kekich have each won twice, and locals Carl Bowser, Tim Shaffer, Danny Holtgraver, Sye Lynch, and Leyton Wagner. AJ Flick won last years “Western Pa sprint car championship” winning over $8,000. Bob Felmlee was the winner of the 2023 version.
The top shelf trucking DIRT 602 crate sportsman coming off of their point finale with Caden Petry picking up the track championship over Jim Bryce and Jordan Ehrenberg will also be in competition. The event is open to all local crate modifieds that follow either the DIRT or RUSH rules.
Also on the card will be the 1st ever appearance of the Crown Vic class which has been introduced to the western Pa area this year. Several races around the circuit have been completed and we are hoping for a nice turnout for the first time.
